The Plot:
Geologist Chester Hargis unwittingly brings home a small piece of the frozen Blob from the North Pole. Chester places the storage container with the substance in his freezer, but he and his wife accidentally let it thaw, releasing the Blob. It starts by eating a fly, then a kitten, Chester's wife, and then Chester himself.
Lisa Clark arrives at Chester's house to see him dissolving beneath the pulsating mass. In terror, Lisa hotrods back to sweetheart Bobby Hartford's stable cabin and drags him back to Chester's house. There are no signs of the Blob or its victims.
Lisa and Bobby return to his stable cabin and park. Suddenly the Blob oozes all over her car. Bobby protectively hugs Lisa. The Blob leaves as suddenly and as silently as it came. They cut out to find help.
Meanwhile the rapidly-growing creature quietly preys upon the town. Some of its victims include a cop and two hippies in a storm drain, a barber and his client, transients, a Scout Master, a farm-full of chickens, and a bar full of people.
Bobby and Lisa stop Leslie and Joe in his dune buggy and tell them about the Blob. Joe, thinking it's a "put-on" leaves angrily. Leslie goes with Bobby and Lisa. On the highway, Joe's dune buggy skids into the Blob and is enveloped. Bobby, Lisa and Leslie approach the Blob, and Leslie hysterically jumps from the car to help Joe, and the Blob gets her too. Bobby and Lisa escape and race to the tournament-crowded bowling alley. They warn the bowlers of the danger, but the bouncer takes Bobby and Lisa to the office of the Manager, Edward Fazio.
While Bobby and Lisa try to explain to Fazio, the Blob surges into the bowling lanes. The screaming crowds burst out of the bowling alley into the adjoining ice rink, which is closed for repairs. Bobby, Liza and Fazio retreat to a record broadcast booth above the closed ice rink and watch in horror as the blood red mass covers the entire ice rink floor, absorbs the panicked people, then comes after the trio in the broadcast booth.
Sheriff Jones and deputy Kelly Davis enter and shoot the indestructible creature. The unharmed Blob gets the deputy, the Sheriff escapes outside and thinking no one but the Blob is left alive inside, prepares to burn the building down. Back inside, Bobby, in panic, tips over an ice chest on the invading Blob "fingers" coming through cracks in the booth floor. The Blob recedes. The Blob can't stand cold. Bobby heroically climbs the work ropes to the switchbox and turns on the instant ice rink freezer. Just as the Blob tips the booth in which Lisa and Fazio still cower, the freezing takes effect and Bobby rushes outside to stop the Sheriff from setting fire to the building. All enter in triumph as the Blob is frozen and Lisa and Fazio are saved. The gigantic Blob is frozen, is it...THE END ?
